Dublin Coastal Trail
The Dublin Coastal Trail spans Dublin Bay from Skerries to Killiney
Winding along the coastline is the 44km Dublin Coastal trail, spanning Dublin Bay all the way from north Fingal to Killiney. The original trail began in historic Skerries and meandered through Malahide and Howth. This will soon (2026) be extended to take in Balbriggan and Donabate.
Dotted with castles and Martello towers, scenic cliffs and sandy beaches, this is a really inviting and enjoyable day out. Easily accessed by DART and Irish Rail, the trail is perfect for a car-free experience. On sunny days, visitors can explore on two wheels using the Bleeper Bike share scheme, available at several locations along the route, making it simple to move from village to village at your own pace. Running through 11 towns and villages ensures plenty of potential stops for refueling.
Enjoy fresh seafood straight from the harbour and invigorating cliff walks with panoramic sea views. The Dublin Coastal Trail offers endless opportunities for outdoor adventure, heritage discovery and memorable moments by the sea.
