A Stitch in Time Festival – Balbriggan
This exciting new event ‘A Stitch in Time. Balbriggan: Past, Present and Future’ showcases Balbriggan’s rich textile history, displays the town’s diverse cultural contributions and highlights future designers and sustainable fashion for all. This event will take place in Balbriggan’s Town Hall over four days where school tours will be facilitated and a knit and natter circle will be ongoing for all to participate. The festival also aligns with the Fingal Heritage Network theme for 2026 ‘Changing Fingal: Stories from my Place’ as images and artefacts on display will highlight these changes.
There will also be wool spinning, knitting, embroidery and crocheting demonstrations at designated time slots. Drawing on our extensive archives with items acquired over the past 45 years, our displays will showcase the world-famous Real Balbriggans alongside other important textiles from Gallen’s linens to dresses by top designer John Rocha but made in Balbriggan.
