Writing Workshop Week at Howth Castle – Samhain Festival
You will meet other writers, write to prompts to generate new life stories, explore the themes of Samhain and Celtic culture, share your stories, receive feedback from Lara and together as a group, polish your favourite story of the week so you will leave with a finished story and many in the making. You will explore writing using Irish words drawn from the beauty surrounding the castle.
Included is a literary presentation by historian-in-residence Daniel Eglinton-Carey. After the workshop we will walk to Aideen’s Grave, followed by a walk to Howth fishing piers, then coffee/tea.
Options to add:
- Traditional music in the local pubs. Howth is rich in music and storytelling.
- Boat trips to Ireland’s Eye and coastline.
- Cliff paths of outstanding beauty.
- Lunch and dinner in one of the many fantastic restaurants in Howth.
- Stay at the King Sitric or any of the available B&Bs.

We will attend the final night Hooks & Reels – an evening of story and song at Howth Castle. Tickets at Eventbrite Hooks & Reels or scan the QR in the poster.
October 31st 7-9.30
If your story is chosen, you will present at the event that evening and become a Howth Storyteller.
