Spring into Fingal

February 17, 2026
Take a trip to Fingal this Spring and be amazed at how  much there is to see and do. Here are a few suggestions to get you started.

Take a walk on the wild side

Grab those hiking boots when the sun shines and check out the wonderful 66km/44mile Dublin Coastal Trail hugging Dublin Bay from Skerries to Killiney. Originally the trail began in the pretty fishing village of Skerries and meandered through Malahide and Howth. This will soon (2026) be extended to take in Balbriggan and Donabate.

Dotted with castles and Martello Towers, scenic cliffs and sandy beaches, this is a really inviting and enjoyable walk. It’s also very accessible by train which makes it easy to do in sections. It runs through 11 towns and villages ensuring plenty of potential stops for refuelling in one form or another.  Coffee shops, restaurants and cosy pubs abound.

The world’s your oyster

Feeling All Shucked Up? The Howth Guinness Oyster and Music Festival is the place for you. Taking place over the last weekend in February (27th Feb to 1st Mar), this is a toe tapping, taste bud tantalising festival of fun. It styles itself as a perfect blend of culinary indulgence (that’s the oysters paired with creamy Guinness), world-class music (that’s everything from rhythm & blues to jazz, bluegrass and rock at various venues around Howth) and warm community spirit that makes Howth so special (that’s all the great folks you’ll meet from the moment you get here).

Some events are free; others can be booked through the website.

Dine in style

Dine like lords and ladies of the great house at this occasional dining event.

The Dining Club, a hospitality experience that traverses past and present and is deeply rooted in a sense of place. With a focus on seasonality, heritage, and the art of storytelling, each event is meticulously designed around a theme that unfolds through changing menus, entertainment, and thoughtfully crafted table settings.

This exclusive multi-course dining experience is only available on eight weekends a year or by special private booking.
It takes place in magnificent Whitestown House demesne, near the Naul, which dates back to the 1600s, and remarkably the demesne has remained intact to this day.
