Harbour Town Wanders

Take your time in picturesque seaside towns worth their salt, with cafés, craft shops and boats bobbing gently in working harbours

Fingal’s long coastline is dotted with seaside towns and villages built around harbours; a safe haven for fishing boats and pleasure crafts. Take time to wander and enjoy the tang of salty air that never fails to whet the appetite.

The first three villages on the Dublin Coastal Trail are in Fingal – Skerries, Malahide and Howth. Near Skerries is Rush, once notorious for smuggling and today a picture perfect spot to spend a day with two sandy beaches. Look offshore for Lambay Island home to the only wild wallabies in Ireland.

A coastal walkway is currently under development by Fingal County Council. Some sections are already open and eventually it will run the full length of the Fingal coast.
