Howth Adventures is celebrating a double success, having been named Adventure Tour Company of the Year Ireland at the Europe 2026 Travel & Hospitality Awards, while director Zack O’Doherty was recognised in Tourism Ireland’s 40 under 40 list.

Based on the stunning Howth Peninsula, the family-run business was founded with the mission of sharing the area’s remarkable nature, history and culture with locals and visitors, while helping to protect and enhance the nature of the area for generations to come. Today, they offer a range of ways to see Howth, from guided walks and hikes, electric bike tours, boat trips and more.

The Travel & Hospitality Awards celebrate businesses that demonstrate outstanding performance in the travel and hospitality sector, following an extensive research and evaluation process.

In a double win for the company, director Zack O’Doherty was included in Tourism Ireland’s 40 under 40, a spotlight on the Irish tourism sector’s young talent. Inspired by his father and Howth Adventures founder, Shane, Zack went back to college to earn his degree in tourism management from Technological University Dublin. The course equipped him with the tools to develop not just a regenerative tourism organisation, but a regenerative tourism destination as a whole.

Day-to-day, Zack mostly looks after the hiking side of the business, operating a dozen different hiking experiences for the FIT and DMC groups alike. The company’s guides are all Howth natives, bringing their local knowledge, stories and a tangible connection to the landscape and the community in Howth.

For Howth Adventures, the local connect is an important part of what the company offers, giving visitors the opportunity to experience Howth alongside people who know the area and community first-hand.

Book in for one of their experiences and witness the beauty of Howth yourself.
